Immanuel Men's Group
The Men's Group at Immanuel meets once a month for breakfast. They meet on the second Saturday of the month usually in Immanuel's fellowship hall, with one or two men performing the cooking duty. Sometimes the meeting will be at a local restaurant. They enjoy getting together, sharing time and conversations.
However, this group was organized as more than a social group. They are here to help with projects that some people are unable to do for themselves. For people who are unable to perform some small tasks around d their houses, they would be willing to give it a try. They see it as a mission to use their time and talents to help people in the church and the community.
Dorcas Guild — Women's Group
We have a small but extremely active women's group, the Dorcas Guild. The guild is associated with the Lutheran Women's Missionary League (www.lwml.org). The objective of the Guild is to promote the purpose of the LWML through:
Through their fundraising they generously support over 15 non-profit agencies and causes throughout the year such as:
Throughout the years, the women of Immanuel have organized and conducted an annual Women's Retreat. They have taken place at various locations, usually in Retreat centers close to Portland. They are held over a weekend in the fall. The planning committee has been able to secure wonderful outside speakers for the retreats and the women have come away from them renewed, enlightened and happy. Women who have attended have commented on what an uplifting, inspiring and fun time they have had.
